It is a known fact that Omega 3 fatty acids are important for normal growth and health. In 1970, the parables containing the seafood of the Greenland Inuit tribe concluded that because their diet contained high levels of omega 3 fatty acids found in fish oils, many had lowered triglycerides, heart rate, blood pressure and atherosclerosis.
The study also found that the Inuit tribe showed almost no cardiovascular disease. Studies from that time have also shown that we need only less than 1 percent of our total calorie consumption to take fatty acid nutrients. Unfortunately, although our bodies need these nutrients, we can not make them ourselves.
Essential fatty acids must be obtained from other sources. They are commonly found in fat in cold water. This group of fish includes salmon, herring, mackerel, tuna, ansles and sardines. One of the best sources of Omega 3 fatty acids is also found in deep-sea fish called Hoki, which lives in crystal-clear deep water in southern New Zealand.
Nutrients can also be taken from some vegetable oils. Spinach and Broccoli are also known sources of nutrients as they are dark green leaves. By not catching fish, you are very likely not to get enough fatty acids in your diet. Your body is known to have the symptoms of omega 3 fatty acid deficiency when you are always tired, depressed and difficult time with focus. Other symptoms include skin and hair dryness, poor circulation and inflammation.
Omega 3 fatty acids are also available as a supplement and can be purchased in prominent natural foods or pharmacies. They are marketed as fish oil, fish oil capsules and cod liver oil (also called marine oils).
Recent studies also concluded that the Omega 3 nutrients are good for preventing cancer. Studies and examples have shown that nutrient nutrition may potentially prevent breast, colon and prostate cancer. It is also possible to reduce the growth pressure in the prostate and slow down the histological progress. Cancer patients who took these dietary supplements also showed more survival than those that were not nutrients in their diet.
