No need for software updates for the Ford Sync system on iPhone 5 (or any iPhone). Please note that Apple does not use MAP (messaging protocol) to allow Ford text audio. However, if you have iPhone4S or iPhone 5, then it's okay! Just press the "Home" button on the iPhone screen for a few seconds. Listen to the voice of "Siri" on the vehicle sound system. Then just say "Reading Text Messages" and he will read them. If you want, continue with "Siri". Ask him to send a text and start asking the question what kind of text message he / she wants to send. When you've finished talking with Siri, press and hold the phone icon on the steering wheel for about 5 seconds and it will be off
iPhone Siri actually seems to be "the best of both worlds" as it allows you to push the "hang" button on the steering wheel to make and scan phone calls, Bluetooth music, USB music, and say "Mobile Apps" if Ford has AppLink. If not, press the voice key and say Bluetooth, then go to your phone and press "Pandora" or another app to play the music through the dashboard.
Turn off the vehicle. Turn off the iPhone completely for at least 30 seconds. Then start it. This will help to restore your phone to your phone provider settings.
To update the Sync software for the new iPhone, do not worry, because it is not necessary. The new iPhone 5 works seamlessly with existing Sync software. So enjoy the new iPhone 5 and Ford Sync.
