Starting an eBay Business may at first seem like a simple task but when you actually put it in front of you, you're facing the first and hardest The Question You Need To Answer – "What Do I Sell?"
Unfortunately, most people can not answer this question and find their business soon in their head. Others will grab the first thing they see on sale, buy it and ask them to sell it with a profit. Most of these people lose money, and again, their business winds up like just deception.
You must start the right track from the start if you want to succeed on eBay. Finding the right products to sell is the first step.
First, you need to know which categories are the most popular and profitable. Essentially, the best categories of items sold on eBay are as follows:
Understanding which of these categories will have most buyers and offering you the best chance to make money is what will make you comfortable. Rather than buy something in this category, be sure to select only the best items in each category. The best thing you should sell on eBay is often within the category.
Electronic: Small portable electronics like iPod and cell phones, especially iPhone and BlackBerry. Items that are easily lost, stolen, broken, etc. And accessories for those products. Computer cables, adapters and small accessories. Also, refurbished laptops and discount options on the flat screen.
Clothing: Children's Clothing and Coupon Announcements (NO KNOCKOFFS!). Unique T-Shirts, New or Old. Used jeans. Clothing accessories, jewelry, etc.
Books: Niche fiction and 1st edition. Children's books in good condition.
Collectibles: Coins, stamps, comics, sports records, almost anything that can be identified and has published updated guidelines each year.
Where do you get all this stuff?
The obvious first place to look for items that you can sell on eBay is a garage or attic. You can clean up space for a new warehouse and gain valuable experience from selling on eBay. One of the most important things you will accomplish in this initial phase is to build your eBay feedback rating. If you try to sell big tickets with a feedback score below 25, you will lose money.
Do not hurry this phase and try to get rich. Your main focus is on high volume of business and good customer service. Enter these first items at a price that is less than what you think you want for them and when they sell, send them out the same day if possible.
Now that your garage is empty and you have a review of 25, It's time to go shopping. Your first stop should be on your own discounted suit. Places like Ross or Nordstrom's Rack sell designer clothes for a fraction of retail prices.
Only buy women's clothing. You want basics, something that a woman often needs to work, or extremely cool, something everyone needs, but can not necessarily afford it. It's easier to handle the basics.
Warning : Never attempt to sell knockoffs on eBay. You will get a lifetime ban. In addition, they can banned someone on your email or IP, for life. Although eBay itself is not wary of looking for copyright or trademark infringement, its lawyers are. There are people who are simple to browse eBay to look for violations and notify eBay.
Never use images of others, either from registration or anywhere on the web. If you have not taken the photo yourself, someone else has the copyright. Seller may banned eBay if they notify you to use your registration photos, or even copy HTML or text from registration.
Garage is a good place for children's clothes. You can often get a discount if you get up early and offer to buy your children's clothes at once. Children's books can easily be found in garage sales, under different circumstances. You can find collectibles here too, but they are often too expensive or in very bad condition. Most people have the idea that if it looks, it will be worthwhile and is not very open to negotiating a lower price.
Local commodities have a wide range of children's clothes and used books, often for the pennies of the dollar. Make it a habit to stop once a week to each one in your area.
You can find items that you can sell on eBay itself. It takes some work and knowledge, but looking for misspelled projects or things that are listed in the wrong category can often lead to a few good meetings.
If you want to sell collectibles, make sure there's something you're really interested in yourself. If you do not know the information in this market, you can easily lose a lot of money. Buy all the appropriate price guidelines for your chosen hobbies (on eBay course), choose the niche part of that market and learn as much as you can about it. This works well if you live in or near a major metropolitan area that will have shops, fairs and events that take place to collect a market.
With collections and books, you must be able to speak the language. Each hobby has its own terms and if you do not know, people will not trust you. Even if you are selling an item at a reasonable price, if it sounds like you do not know what you're talking about – somehow it seems too much and people will not want to buy from you.
A good place to find selected collections is for events tailored to the hobbies. Most events will have a seller's listing of the event, along with their specialty. DO NOT go to someone specializing in your particular sessions. Try someone who is more interested in everything. Often they will have items that you are looking for and not know about their value. Sometimes they may overestimate the item, but usually they list it cheaply just to get it out of their inventory.
Books can be good things to sell on eBay. Good first edition book can be worth a lot of money. Usually, they can only be bought from someone who knows what they have, but I have had a lot of luck at discounted prices used in bookstores and in larger-used bookshops. Again you need to know what you are looking for and what you are talking about or you could pay for something worth just a few dollars.
Books that are not fiction in the retail market sell excellent. How-to books will always be sellers. Make sure you do not go to extensive categories or you may have too much competition to earn. For example: "How to make Adirondack chair," is better than "Woodworking at home." Home repair manuals, sports training manuals, self-help books, are all good to sell on eBay. All books should be listed for the longest auction time you can or place in an eBay store. : : Do not try to squeeze all the last cents Out of sale. Leave a little on the table so that the buyer has a good feeling about his purchase and again, you, the seller. If you build reputation for good things at a great price, then you will have a long future as an eBay seller.
Make sure the buyer thinks they have been successful. Always try to create a higher perceived value for the things than what you sell it for. With books, clothes and some collections, you can put items into a collection and then "discount" the price will get you better than trying to sell each item separately.
] Wholesale / Drop Shipping
Last but not least, we have the most mysterious method of buying items to sell on eBay – Wholesalers. This is how big boys find items to sell on eBay. If you have enough money and enough storage space, you can buy a large amount of money at a discount, either directly from the manufacturer or from one of the many intermediaries that come between them and your final destination.
This method can be awesome if you are not used to suffering and dealing with the phone, but it is possible. Los Angeles Harbor brings about everything that is bought in the United States. Most manufacturers have wholesale offices near LA city center that are open to bidding. You can either meet them personally or respond to them over the phone.
If you live in LA, you are going to the wholesale area in person, a good idea, because often the people working at the office are willing to sell you very little amount of items at wholesale prices, usually a dozen of each item or box , Whatever is easier for them. Sometimes a wholesale license (for tax) and sometimes not necessary.
Wholesalers are a great source for electronics, electronics, clothing and accessories, jewelry, etc.
Warning : Do not buy "wholesale" DVDs, CDs, PCs, etc. 99% of the time it will be forged – And "19459002"
If you do not live in LA and can not afford to buy $ 10,000 worth of electronics And keep them in your garage, you still have the option. There are smaller wholesale companies, usually an intermediary who has negotiated with many manufacturers who can offer you a wide range of items in wholesale prices in small quantities. Sometimes they can even send the product directly to the buyer without having to touch the item. This is called a dropover.
Drop shipping is one of the best ways to sell electronics on eBay. You make a sale, and they send the product. If something is wrong with the item, the manufacturer is usually responsible for changing or repairing the item and dealing with the buyer.
I personally do not have much experience in dealing with wholesalers outside of the LA area, but there are resources available to list a good range of wholesale wholesalers and drop shipping companies.
Now that we have gone out of the garage to negotiate with an international wholesaler, you should have a good understanding. Because you can find items that you want to sell on eBay and what items you should look for. Tips that I have offered to sell should help you get up and running fast, but avoid some major issues that can easily ruin your business.
I wish you good luck and hope this information puts you in the way Building your own eBay empire.
