There are many reasons companies should have a mobile phone plan.
The world-wide smartphone increased by 54.7% year-on-year in the fourth quarter of 2011 (IDC). There is no doubt that the sales of mobile phones have been very amazing. With this rapid growth taking place, it is not surprising that people rush to beat their competitors by creating mobile devices and customizing existing products to meet the needs of their customers. Mobile is able to offer more interactive and targeted experience than any other channel because consumers need to participate in applications to receive bids and notifications. The ability to target messages through mobile phones means that consumers get the information they decide they want and this leads to successful marketing. 70% of all mobile searches lead to action within 1 hour (Mobile Market).
91% of all US citizens have their mobile phones within 24/7 (Morgan Stanley). That means you have absent audience around the clock with mobile phones. This differs from other channels, but the phone can be switched off, as TV and computer users are more likely to turn off the phone and give businesses more opportunities to reach consumers.
It takes 90 minutes on average to reply to an email. It takes 90 seconds on average to respond to a text message (CTIA.org). Growth, adaptation and access to the mobile phone network has given businesses an effective way to trade with their customers. The market can create more important communication for consumers and consumers are more likely to participate in them.
What should your business do about it?
Start by optimizing your mobile website. With so many people using their mobile to access information, it's important that your information is there. Going to a site that is not mobile-friendly can be annoying and cause users to leave the site soon after they visit it so it's important to make sure your site is optimized.
Next, you should review your products and think if there is any application that you could add to your product line that would help consumers to use. You want to make sure that consumers get an easy time by using your products and mobile apps and putting your products at the fingertips of your customers.
